Pantone’s Fashion Color Report Spring 2010: Turquoise

Every season Pantone releases their Fashion Color Report based on the hottest colors seen on the New York Fashion Week Runways. Tracy Reese, Peter Som and Badgley Mischka are a few of the designers that inspired this Spring’s signature colors.

Designers bring splashes of sunshine to the runway for spring 2010. Vibrant brights add a sense of excitement to the color palette, while practical neutrals provide a safety net for cautious consumers.

“Now more than ever, women are vigilant when it comes to spending,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Instead of re-inventing their wardrobe at the start of each season, consumers want pieces to complement what they already own. Pairing a bold color with a basic piece or freshening up their look with bright accents addresses the need for practicality, as well as fun.”

In honor of the first week of spring, for the next 9 days, I will be spotlighting Pantone’s Spring colors and matching them up with the hottest nail polish colors from some of my favorite brands.

The first color is Turquoise, a classic color which has been revisited countless times. Turquoise is definitely a statement color and looks excellent with neutral khaki, browns, and army green. Turquoise/Deep Aqua Blue  is Peter Som’s signature color for Spring. “My choices reflect the need for happy, mood-  lifting colors that offer a bit of escapism,” says Som.

I’ve paired Turquoise with China Glaze‘s For Audrey– obviously inspired by the famous Tiffany blue. The color is a lighter version of the turquoise represented above, but I think it’s just right for spring and can be worn with almost any look. My runner up China Glaze’s Flying High from their Up and Away collection.

What’s your favorite turquoise polish?
